Elements and Performance Criteria
- Identify components, accessories and materials
- Work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and workplace procedures are communicated, confirmed and applied
- Tools, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are identified, checked and are safe to use in accordance with workplace procedures
- Relevant person/s is consulted to ensure the work is coordinated effectively with others
- Resources and materials required for work activity are confirmed, scheduled and obtained in accordance with workplace procedures
- Select components, accessories and materials
- Schedule of work for selecting components, accessories and materials are followed to ensure work is completed in accordance with agreed timelines, quality standard and with a minimum of waste using appropriate technology
- Unplanned situations are responded to in accordance with workplace procedures in a manner that minimises risk to personnel and equipment
- Quality checks of work are undertaken in accordance with work instructions and job requirements
- Confirm components and materials selection
- Relevant person/s is notified of completion of the selection process
- Tools, equipment, surplus resources and materials are cleaned, checked and returned to storage in accordance with workplace procedures
- Work area is cleaned, made safe and sustainable energy practices are followed
- Workplace record/s are updated in accordance with work instructions and workplace procedures

Performance Evidence
Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements, performance criteria and range of conditions on at least two separate occasions and include: |
applying relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, including using risk control measuresfollowing schedule of worklocating, scheduling and obtaining resources and materials required for workdealing with unplanned events/situations in accordance with workplace procedures in a manner that minimises risk to personnel and equipmentidentifying and checking required tools, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)identifying and selecting components, accessories and materials, including:confirming selection of components, accessories and materialsobtaining, checking and returning tools, equipment, surplus resources and materials type, number and ratings of components used in the electrotechnology and engineering industriesupdating work records using manufacturer specifications, including:selecting relevant electrotechnology parts and componentsusing relevant part and component identification and information. |
